This is by definition quite a wide category as virtually every product has to be manufactured, with the exception of food products. However in the small and medium size business world, where we focus on, we can start to bring this classification into a more manageable level. Here is what we'll include to explore the performance metrics for: 

Gate Fabrication

The skill sets of metal fabricators will be required for composite gates (the metal frame) and metal gates - both aluminium and wrought iron as well as steel. For wooden gates, especially driveway gates these will often be made by a skilled joiner rather than a fencer.

Metal Railings

Whilst these can be bought off the shelf many local fabricators make these on a bespoke basis, especially if decorative railings have been requested. Additional components will be need to be welded to create a unique final product.

How quickly can items be produced.

Quality of Fabrication

It makes sense to chart quality against speed to provide a new performance metric. There is no real customer value to simply receiving goods quickly if they are of poor quality and need returning or revising so speed and quality go hand in hand.

Delivery

Whilst this may not be under the direct control of the manufacturer this will impact the overall service offering and the choosing of third party couriers of the trades own transport needs to be effectively managed.
